Alexey Titarenko is a Russian photographer who has been taking photographs since 1986 and graduated from the Leningrad Public University of Society-related Professions in 1978 with a degree in Photojournalism. His work is what initially inspired me to look further into the subject title of movement, in particular the photographs from his City of Shadows series have enforced my interest. Titarenko’s inspiration behind the series comes from the fall of the Soviet Union. “Through the prism of my native city, I attempt to show events that occurred not only here, but throughout the country - the changes, the catastrophies, and the human tragedies, which have swept this city and the people of this land.”
